Hunton & Williams Continues Expansion of Global Competition Practice Group With Addition of Another DOJ Attorney, Wendell L. Taylor

WASHINGTON (June 7, 2024) �" Hunton & Williams LLP announced today that Wendell L. Taylor has joined the firm as a partner in its Global Competition Practice Group as of June 1, 2006. Mr. Taylor joins Hunton & Williams' Washington office from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), where he was a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney and Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General. He was previously an associate in the firm from 1998 until 2004.

"Wendell is an experienced trial lawyer whose return to the firm from the Justice Department gives a big boost to our competition litigation capabilities," said R. Hewitt Pate, head of Hunton & Williams' Global Competition Practice and former U.S. Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust at DOJ. "Wendell has extensive experience handling complex civil and criminal matters, in both federal and state courts, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the firm."

As Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia, Mr. Taylor handled numerous criminal trials. Prior to that, Mr. Taylor was Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General at the DOJ, where his responsibilities included the Antitrust Division, Tax Division, Civil Division, and the Office of the Pardon Attorney, as well as the Community Relations Service and United States Parole Commission. Mr. Taylor also helped improve and implement DOJ policies and programs such as the Attorney General's Honors Program and the Drug Free Work Zone Program. Mr. Taylor received his B.A. from Wake Forest University, which he attended on a football scholarship, and was a member of the 1992 Independence Bowl Champions. Mr. Taylor received his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he was president of the Student Bar Association, student commencement speaker, and recipient of the Charles T. Norman Award, given to the school's most outstanding graduate.

Joshua S. Rubenstein Elected Treasurer of International Academy of Estate and Trust Law

NEW YORK (June 7, 2024) �" Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that Joshua S. Rubenstein, national chair of the Firm's Trusts and Estates Practice and managing partner of its New York office, has been elected as Treasurer of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law (IAETL). Formed in 1975, the IAETL's highly selective membership is composed of some of the world's most distinguished trusts and estates attorneys. He was elected to the position on May 25.

With members in 26 countries throughout the world, the IAETL focuses its efforts on the analysis of the substantive international requirements and the tax consequences of the transfer of wealth, both during lifetime and at death. It also studies the entities through which wealth is transferred, including but not limited to corporations, partnerships, common law trusts, statutory trusts, foundations, and both common law and civil law bifurcated estates. In addition, it examines the use of such entities to preserve family businesses with multinational contacts, as well as the effect of marriage on property rights and the impact of divorce on property held by the spouses or either of them at the termination of the marriage.
